InDesign Advanced Training...

Adobe InDesign is used in so many areas of business, one of which is the construction industry where amongst other things its used for tenders and bid writing.  A recent client was bringing copy across from Microsoft Word into InDesign and finding the whole process messy.  They were also working with external contributors so found handling text in InDesign quite messy.  They were also editing their InDesign documents ad hoc and wanted to take a more consistent logical approach -

After chatting we started the InDesign Advanced Course by showing them the best way to work with text by placing, working with different text flows such as linked and unlinked text. This then led to working with branding and by using their own branding guidelines designed their text using Character and Paragraph styles, once created it was far easier to work with large blocks of text and at at any time edit and update it in quickly so effectively 'killing two birds with one stone'.

Master Pages are used to give pages a consistent look throughout a long document.  As tenders can be well over a 100 pages the InDesign Courses demonstrated how to position items on pages and how to control differently designed sections by using Multiple Master Pages. No tender document is complete without graphics so during the training the delegates learned a number of ways of placing and positioning images for text wrapping using clipping paths and outset wrap.

The very nature of a long document calls for automated control or very quickly it can become quite difficult to handle - so we worked with ways to streamline and automate the layout by using Table of Contents, Indexing and then incorporated the whole document into a Book document.

We deliver InDesign Advanced Course or organise Bespoke InDesign Training and deliver this onsite across the UK otherwise we can run InDesign Training from our venue in Leicestershire.
